So a funny thing I love about Facebook is when it pops up one of those “a year ago today” posts. This pic was taken on Oct. 25, 2016. A year ago today, Zach came home from Los Angeles after spending his first month there becoming a new band. His dad, Josh, went with him and the boys started this new journey. Who knew that exactly a year later (to the day) Zach would be coming home after finishing a European press tour and after having achieved so much in that past year?!?! I don’t know if I ever really expected the amount of success so fast. I mean, sure that’s what everyone dreams about and hopes for…but you never really expect it.
So today, it made me smile to see last year’s post pop up on my Facebook…because Zach was on his way home and we couldn’t wait! Everything is good in my world when my family is all together. It’s the best feeling. The past year has been so exciting and filled with many ups, but along with those ups comes some downs. The hardest part about all of this for me is my family being split up so many days of the year. It. Is. Rough. As parents, Josh and I are always trying to figure out who is traveling with Zach and/or staying home with Ryan and Reese, or are we all traveling together and who’s doing what. It gets crazy. We have lots to figure out still but know that we will make whatever happen that we need to.
For today…I cherished every bit of having Zach home. We all did. I wish I could freeze time. Zach asked me to make one of his favorite homemade dinners. My spaghetti and garlic bread with caesar salad. Lol. Nothing fancy…but just a little taste of home. And it was perfect. Then we all talked, played games, and just hung out. That’s honestly my happy place. Always has been. When anyone asks me what my favorite thing to do is…I always say it’s just to hang out with my family at home.
So for now…I’ll continue and cherish these perfect days. My family is perfect. Even as crazy as our lives seem to be lately. It’s perfect. We still need to figure out a lot of things especially how to keep everyone connected and together through all of it. I have no doubt we will. We would move mountains to do it. We would move to just about anywhere too. 😉 Because as we say in our family “Family. Always and Forever No Matter What”.
It certainly is tyus sweet and also packed with a lot of enjoyable for me personally and even my office colleagues

That’s so nice of you to say. Thank you!!! Our family has always been super close. My kids grew up with weekend family game nights and movie nights. They were a deal big deal at home and something we always looked forward to. It’s still something we do to this day. Hoping that never changes! 🙂

Hey I’m a limelight and I’m 15 years old. I’m so happy and so proud of how far the boys have come in such a short period of time. This made me cry a little because everyone always has those huge goals and dreams of being something big. It’s crazy to see those goals being accomplished so quickly in the band.
I know it’s super hard not to see your son all the time. Especially with all of the traveling and him being so young. But I’m super happy and excited to see what’s in store for this upcoming year. They are going to Jingleball at MSG. That is huge!!! And their third tour. I can’t wait for the Invitation tour I’m going to NYC on April 21.

I can try to express to what extent this made my morning, but I would fail. Family isn’t just home, its the one constant in a crazy, changing world. My mothers arms will always be there to hold me when the world has been too cruel. My father’s wisdom will always guide when the roads have made me stray. It’s true though.. We let someone go for their brighter future, leaving us kinda alone without their accompany. I am in Zach’s position though. I’m in boarding school and I barely see my parents much. Literally crying because you actually cherish your son existence at home when me, every time I got home. I will be punished and all that for the things I didn’t do. But what can I say, some families aren’t as perfect as the others. I think that its soo nice to have a family that hangs out together. My family isn’t that close but I wish we were. We all live in a tiny house that is only like 30’x 30′ and we are constantly fighting. BTW your blogs are really well written. You should write a book.

Hello! I’m a LimeLight, probably the oldest at that. I’m 33 years old, and a proud single parent to a 10-year old son. I can understand the challenges, being a mother as well, albeit I’m seeing and learning how you manage your family when you have a child who has a certain calling where traveling a lot is involved. Ian will someday find his calling, too, and if I’m lucky, have more kids (I’m desperate for a girl like Reese).
From what I’m seeing, you do have the perfect family. For me, a perfect family also involves a lot of teamwork and you and your husband are a model couple. Zach is just a happy kid with a bright future ahead of him. I want my son to have the same disposition, to find his own dream and pursue it with passion and hunger. We can only teach our children so much as they enter a world where they arm themselves with the “armor and weapons” we give them as they grow older.
Following Why Don’t We on Instagram, I did not only found the music and artistry that everybody sees on the surface. I am envious with all of these boys’ families. A strong support system is always at the depths of success. I am both mother and father to my only child and I could only hope and do my best to raise a man who will conquer his world, take his happiness, and finally make an honest woman out of someone’s daughter.
My world revolves on three things: God, the universe; my son; and my love for the band Why Don’t We and their music. I applaud you, Myta, and the rest of the WDW families. I pray for more love, strength, and harmony within your households and more success and opportunities for Zach, Daniel, Jack, Jonah and Corbyn. All of you had raised wonderful young men whom my son might look up to someday.

Most importantly, thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and feelings with me. You have no idea how much it means to me to read this. No idea. I can already tell that you’re an amazing mother. Ian is incredibly lucky to have you. Parenting is hard. There are a lot of pressures these days put on us parents. It sounds like you spend a lot of time worrying about Ian and how things will turn out for him. I admire you for being the awesome single parent that you are! We can’t strive to be perfect…just real and true to our values. I was the same way – still am! I worry constantly about the choices we make daily and if we are doing enough for our kids. We want to make sure they’re equipped to deal with the disappointments, tough times, and everything that comes their way. We also want for our children to grow up to be good people. To find their place in the world and do what they were born to do. As a parent, all we can do is encourage and support our kids because they’re most likely to live up to what we believe of them. Parent with love. I think if you parent with love, then you can’t go wrong. ❤️ With you as his mom, I have no doubt Ian will find his passion and you’ll be there to support him 100% of the way!

I just read this with my mum and she said that what you had said about family is something she relates to. My mum was only 16 years old when she had her first child and she said how after that her life changed for the better even if she was only young and here we are 19 years later she has more children and is always going on about how she loves the way her life turned out even if it wasn’t planned. Also I love why don’t we , they have come so far in the past year and its incredible 💜
